This is without a doubt one of the best sets of science fiction armour there has ever been. Not bad considering it was debuted in 1986. Royal Armourer Terry English made these for the original movie and still does today! Our set is a fan made sculpt using a combination of original sculpting, a lot of research and a healthy dose of swearing.
The armour itself is formed from 2mm HIPS plastic and is of very solid foundation. Great care has been taken to ensure all the detailed edges and angles are captured to reflect the original film used suits.
The cuirass and greaves are intentionally oversized to enable it to accommodate a large range of body sizes. The armour itself is able to fit anyone between 5’2″ to 6’5″ and anywhere up to a chest size of 48″ with the correct trimming. The strapping too is true to original form in terms of colour, texture and size. The buckles are also correctly sized and styled.
Laser cut aluminium brackets are also fitted to the back. The abdominal pad is the correct grey colour, fitted with wadding and double stitched. The paint scheme is always evolving as we find more information on the original used colours, but rest assured, they are painted in an accurate pattern using the same Humbrol paints (it’s just no-one is actually certain of which specific colours were used, even Terry himself isn’t 100% certain. Comparisons to original screen used items is still ongoing!)
Armour FAQ’s
How much does a full Marine cost?
Er… How long is a piece of string?
They were all different in the film, with different levels of armour, some with helmets, some without.
They all had different accessories and equipment.
So really, there is no right answer.
Best thing to do, is work out what you want and add the prices together!
Do you have a build tutorial?
Yep…. Check out the tutorials section.
The build video is in there!
Can I use this armour for Airsofting?
Whilst we have used it ourselves for airsofting, we can’t guarantee it won’t break.
It is only plastic after all…
We’ve shot at it with a TM M4 Recoil and it was fine… We’ve also hit it with a VSR, running at 500fps, point blank and it was NOT fine… That went through.
But the biggest issue is the 200lbs of meat inside it. Bouncing off trees, falling on the floor etc.
It’s not designed to stand up to that.
So look badass at your own risk!
