So you’ve got deep pockets and fancy getting your paws on arguably the most iconic sci-fi weapon set-up of all time! The good news is we make them, the bad news is they are not cheap!
The Smartgun rig was an addition to the film because Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez) struggled to carry the functional MG42 used in filming. If you’ve ever held one you’ll know why. So a pair of steady-cam harnesses were adapted for Drake & Vasquez to allow them to carry the guns for prolonged filming.
Our Smart Gun harnesses are designed to be functional whilst replicating the original M3 SteadiCam rig as closely as possible.
With Leather shoulder straps, foam padding, cast aluminium adjustable chest plate along with the correct seat belt style webbing and aircraft style release buckles, the rig is designed to be comfortable and adjustable for most people.
The rig has additional Resin 3D printed parts to mimic the original with steel wire ‘non functional’ release mechanism.
The chest plate is HIPS plastic.
The arm is fully sprung and articulated, made of aluminium with resin 3D printed add-on parts to simulate the look of the original arm, along with laser cut aluminium shrouds.
It is capable of supporting a smart gun of around 8-10kg.

We do recommend using the airsoft version of the MG42 for this, because it’s about the right weight for the springs in the arm.
3D printed ones might be too light, and you may need to add extra weight.
